Dear reader

My name is Herod Gilani and I’m a professional veteran artist.

I come from a traditional art background and I allow myself to be inspired by any form of art, primarily movies and graphic novels.

I never let "style" limit my work, although I do have my vision, I am very flexible and open to new challenges.

One of the biggest challenges I had recently was jumping from a heavy war torn looking game, to two kids games I work on as freelance artist for two different studios.

As challenging as it was, I felt it broaden my perspective and gave me more knowledge and skill.

Currently I hold the position of senior environment artist at Blue Castle Games, working on Dead Rising 2

I worked at Threewave software as the Lead Lighting artist and Senior Texture artist on two multi system AAA titles (Ghost Busters, Army of Two 40th Day) using Unreal Editor 3 and Infernal Engine.

Prior to Threewave I was working at Radical Entertainment as the Lead Lighting artist and Senior Texture Artist on their first "Next-Gen" AAA title (Prototype) where me and a coder designed the studio's primary Lighting and FX tools.

I also contributed many pieces of artwork for Prototype (concept art, storyboards, magazine shots, pre-viz) and worked with offsite Outsource companies to get the highest quality assets possible.

Before working at Radical, I was at Circle Studio as Lead Artist where I completed a Capcom game and worked on multiple demo's and pitches.
I was one of the 6 top artists that got hand-picked to leave Core Design and to start Circle Studio.

At Core Design I worked as Lead Lighting Artist and Texture/Modeler and created advertising art
on the AAA title
Tomb Raider: Angel Of Darkness.
Before I joined Core Design, I was working as an "Architectural Visualization" artist where I modeled, textured, lighting and rendered.

I am a great admirer of video games and visual CG movie F/X.
I am also an accomplished traditional artist and I excel in working with many different artistic materials. From rough marker sketches to fully illustrated concept art.

In my free time I enjoy acting and photography.

I also frequent the cinema and read noir and sci-fi books and comics.

I’m giving you a link to my portfolio for you to look at your discretion http://www.herodgilani.com which includes some samples of my professional work and some personal work.

Thanks very much for considering me for future positions and for taking the time to view the materials on my website. I would be very happy to answer any questions you may have, and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Herod Gilani
